You have a backup. But when did you last test it?
Almost every company has a backup. Almost none can say how long it would take to get running again, or how many hours of work it would lose. Those are the two questions that matter, and everything below answers them.
Before we talk about price
The two questions that decide everything
A backup isn't judged by how much space it takes, but by what happens the day you need it. Two acronyms, two plain questions.
- RPOHow much work you redo
- The gap between the last good copy and the failure. A 24-hour RPO means that, at worst, a day's work gets typed again.
- RTOHow long you stay down
- The time between the failure and being back in production. It's the number your director wants, and the one almost nobody has ever measured.
If you want us to handle it
Managed backup, on three levels
Levels aren't chosen by the gigabyte: they're chosen by how much work you can afford to lose and how long you can stay down. Start there and the rest follows.
Hours of work at risk
Base
24 hRestore on request30-day retention
The copy that wasn't there before. Suited to data a day's work can rebuild.
Business
4 hRTO measured in the annual testGFS retention
The most requested level: immutable repository, grandfather-father-son retention and a documented restore test every year.
DR
1 hRTO set in the DR planReplica on our site
For systems that cannot stop. Beyond the backup, a replicated copy ready to start again.
RPO and RTO are service objectives, not guaranteed levels: DataMind pursues them with professional diligence. The values binding on your contract are those in the Offer, and a level is guaranteed only where an SLA expressly qualifies it as such.

How it works
- 01
We map it
Which machines, which data, how many hours of work you can accept losing.
- 02
We configure it
Level, retention and immutable repository, with encryption always on.
- 03
We verify it
A first trial restore within thirty days, then a documented one every year.
Where the DR replica lives
In the standard configuration the replica lives in our Novara datacenter, the same one holding the primary copies: it protects against a hardware failure, a mistake and ransomware, but not against an event affecting the building itself. If you need a copy on a second site we design it: we have several options and quote them case by case. We would rather tell you here than let you find out later.
If you already have a backup
Point what you already use at us. Nothing else changes.
If your backup infrastructure exists and works, there is no reason to rebuild it. What you need is somewhere off-site to send the copies: that somewhere is our datacenter in Novara.
The platforms we take
Veeam
A remote repository for your Veeam jobs, with immutable retention on the copies.
Nakivo
A destination for Nakivo backups, with the same encrypted space and the same rules.
Proxmox
For those who left VMware: copies of your Proxmox machines find a home here.
What you get out of it
The off-site copy of the 3-2-1 rule
Three copies, two media, one off-site. Your data stays where you work and one copy lives in Novara, on infrastructure that isn't yours.
Immutable, therefore untouchable
Copies cannot be encrypted or deleted before they expire, not even with administrator credentials. You restore, without negotiating with anyone.
No charge to take your data back
Outbound traffic is never billed, at any volume. It's the line item that inflates hyperscaler bills at exactly the moment you need the restore.
An address, not a region
Via delle Mondariso 3, Novara. If you want to see where your copies end up, we arrange a visit by appointment.
Do you run backups for your own clients?
If you are an MSP or a system integrator administering Veeam or Nakivo across several companies, what you need is an Italian repository at volume, with a technical contact rather than a portal. Let's talk: channel terms are built on the number of clients, not on a fixed price list.
A distinction people often get wrong
Storage or backup?
You need both, and one doesn't replace the other. An archive without a copy isn't protected; a copy you work on every day isn't a copy.
Managed storage · working space
- The data is there to be used every day: read, written, shared
- Sized on the terabytes in use and on yearly growth
- Grows without downtime, billed per terabyte per month
Backup and DR · a copy
- It sits still until something goes wrong: ransomware, a mistake, a failed disk
- Sized on how much work you can lose and how long you can stay down
- Billed per protected machine plus the encrypted space
Typical situations
Who calls us, and why
These aren't case studies: they're the three reasons the phone rings. If one of them sounds familiar, you already know what the first conversation is about.
The big client's audit
One of your clients asks, contractually, how their data is protected. The annual restore report answers it in one line, with a date and a measured time.
Ransomware Friday
The immutable repository cannot be encrypted or deleted, not even with administrator credentials. You restore, without negotiating with anyone.
Tuesday morning's human error
The folder deleted by mistake comes back from retention. No disaster, no dramatic phone call.
What it costs
Two line items, always the same two
Managed backup is billed per protected machine and per space the copies occupy. There are no hidden items, and outbound traffic is never billed.
- Platform and management
- per protected virtual machine€25/VM per month
- Encrypted space
- per terabyte the copies occupy€30/TB per month
- Prices exclude VAT
- 12-month term
- 10% off when paid annually in advance
- Outbound traffic never billed
The repository for those bringing their own Veeam or Nakivo is sized on space: tell us how many terabytes your copies occupy today and how much they grow in a year, and we'll send a quote with real figures, not a “from” price.
Frequently asked questions
The questions we always get
Including the awkward ones, which we would rather deal with here than at the third meeting.
Yes, and it's one of the two things we do. We give you a remote repository in the Novara datacenter and you point your existing jobs at it: nothing changes in your infrastructure, only where the copies end up. The same applies to Proxmox.
It depends on the agreed level: 8 hours on Base, 4 hours on Business and DR. That isn't a brochure number — on Business and DR we run a trial restore within thirty days of activation and a documented one every year, so the time is measured rather than estimated.
That for the whole retention period the copies cannot be altered or deleted, not even using administrator credentials. It's the defence that counts against modern ransomware, which hunts for the backups before encrypting the data.
In the standard configuration, in our Novara datacenter — the same one holding the primary copies. It protects against a hardware failure, human error and ransomware, but not against an event affecting the building. If you need a copy on a second site we design it: we have several options and quote them case by case.
At Via delle Mondariso 3 in Novara, in a datacenter we own and run ourselves. Client data stays in Italy. If you want to see the rack it sits in, we arrange a visit by appointment.
At no cost. We apply no switching charges and never bill outbound traffic, at any volume. Timescales, exportable formats and the procedure are written on our Data Act page, not left to negotiation.
Managed backup is €25 per month per protected virtual machine plus €30 per month per terabyte the copies occupy, excluding VAT. The repository for those bringing their own software is sized on space and quoted: there is no rigid bundle, we start from what you actually need.
